Responsibilities
In this position, your primary responsibilities will include:
- Communicating with patients, providing them with information and guidance during examinations.
- Organizing work by matching computer orders with specimen labels, sorting specimens, and verifying specimen delivery.
- Ensuring quality results by performing routine maintenance and controls on laboratory equipment.
- Participating in staff training and serving as a technical resource for the team.
- Alerting supervisory personnel to any abnormal patient conditions.
- Testing for the presence or quantity of drugs in patients’ systems.
- Operating chemistry equipment to provide test results for accurate patient diagnosis and treatment.
- Conducting blood typing, antibody screening, and compatibility testing to ensure safe blood transfusions.
- Maintaining a confidential and secure environment for patients, visitors, and staff.
Qualifications
The ideal candidate should possess:
- A Bachelor’s degree in medical technology.
- At least 2 years of experience in a medical laboratory.
- A valid clinical state license (NHRA).
- High attention to detail and strong organizational skills.
- Excellent communication abilities and a capacity to work independently or as part of a team.
- A knack for educating patients and families about health-related issues and a compassionate bedside manner.
